goals without any

We start by scheduling a free attorney-client
phone consult. There is no obligation

A fixed rate is applied to most services -
an important safeguard against soaring
hourly costs.

Business Contracts & Licensing
Licensing and
contract negotiations can catapult a
business into expanded opportunities.
That forward motion, though, is commonly
thwarted and negotiations
often fall short of
potential.
Having
transacted multi-million dollar agreements, including
licensing, intellectual property, and technology
transfer contracts, Janet Schlaufman, Esq. offers
large firm expertise to small and mid-size
businesses.
We're
counsel on demand - there when
you need us, not when you don't.
We'll draft and negotiate your license
agreements,
covenants, commercial leases, and other business
contracts and documents.

Lemon Law & Consumer Law
It seems now, more than ever, consumers
are required to facilitate fair
dealings. Unfortunately faulty
products, incorrect billing, and
misleading service claims are not
uncommon.
North Carolina's statutes provide relief
in many cases. The state's lemon law
protects consumers who
purchase or lease new, yet
defective, vehicles such that a consumer
may qualify for a replacement vehicle or
refund. Other statutes
provides relief in matters involving
fraud and unfair or
deceptive trade practices.
Our firm takes full advantage of these
protections. Refer to our
Lemon & Consumer Law page for more
information.

Relationship Agreements
Relationship agreements affect our lives in
uniquely personal ways. These contracts include agreements
that reflect emerging trends and changes in society.
Premarital, separation, property
agreements, donor
insemination agreements, and domestic
partnership agreements are just some of
the agreements we offer.

LGBT Law
Committed same-sex partners gain no
automatic advantages based on their "coupleness"
as they would if legally married. By
executing legal documents, such as wills,
however, partners assert protection and
security.
Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health
care power of attorney documents fall under the aegis
of established law. They are commonly
used by the
Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender
(LGBT) community to establish control and
rightful distribution of property.
Certain LGBT agreements are relatively new
to the court system. These include
parenting and donor insemination
agreements. Because these represent an emerging area of law,
enforceability of these agreements remains uncertain.
Nonetheless, many individuals and
couples choose to enter
into these agreements because they
demonstrate intent - a persuasive
element under contract
law.

Wills and Estates
For individuals and families, handling
certain matters remotely can prove
invaluable. It is convenient, and personal
issues are more comfortably contemplated in the
privacy of one's home.
During our initial phone consultation we'll
answer your questions and learn about objectives and
relevant circumstances.
Once you receive your documents, we go over
them with you to explain provisions
and to ensure goals and wishes are
best represented.
Realizing desires and circumstances change,
clients may request a revision of any
agreement or document at no charge
for up to six months following our initial
consultation.
Link to our Wills and Estates page for more
information.
